"Welcoming, kind and understanding"

About: Adult Community Services / Continence Team

(as the patient),

I have Multiple Sclerosis (MS) so my continence issues are ongoing which I have been able to manage until anxiety started played a key role. This then badly affected my quality of life - afraid to go out anywhere, shopping, get some fresh air…anything.

I was referred to the Continance Assessment Clinic in the Arches Health & Wellbeing centre. Fidelma met with me 3 times over about one and a half years.  She helped me understand the complex issues that were contributing to my incontinence by breaking down my Bladder Frequency Chart each visit into patterns of behaviour and activity hence explaining what is probably happening within my body. This helped me greatly understand, in a logical cohesive way, which in turn started my journey to giving me back more control of my bladder.

Fidelma was welcoming, kind and understanding. Always very patient and a great listener, which helped me relax and in turn listen to her. I am writing this in an attempt to show my appreciation.

Dear Firenze,

Thankyou for taking the time to share your story,

I'm sorry to hear the challenges you have faced with continence issues which were further impacted by anxiety. However it is fantastic that your journey is now becoming more positive and you are getting back control of your bladder.

I will share your kind words of appreciation with Fidelma, she will be grateful and glad to hear, that she has helped support you, making a difference to your quality of life.

I hope that you continue with improved health and would like to convey my best wishes.

Kind Regards

Deborah
